What happened to the weather?

After a relatively warm sunny start to this week, we were a little surprised to wake up to this today...

The weather reports had warned us of a snow but we didn't want to believe them.  Hopefully the weather turns a 180 back to warm in the next few days.

New website

I designed a new website a couple weeks ago.  I've been wanting to upload it and I finally got the chance today.  I'm happy to have replaced that old generic looking one with the new sleeker design.  Check it out at www.Barefoot-Boards.com

Afternoon on the river

It was cold... but the sun was shining so we made a trip out to the river to do some paddling today.

Past weekend's adventure

Well, my appendix decided to interfere with us working on the boards this weekend.  We were just starting to settle down after a long day Saturday when all of the sudden my stomach started to hurt.  I say stomach, but I couldn't pinpoint the exact location of the pain.  It felt like all the muscles in my abdominal area were cramping up.  Anyways, it continually got worse throughout the night and after about 12 hours of pain I finally decided to mention something to my handsome husband.  Shockingly he wasn't happy with me keeping it a secret all night.  He ended up dragging me (kicking and screaming) to the doctors office.  The doctor ended up sending us over to the emergency room.  I tried to channel MacGyver for a daring or an ingenious escape plan on the drive over there but sadly I didn't have enough time.  After a lot of needles and tests (and a whole lot of waiting) they decided that it was "probably" my appendix and that I needed emergency surgery.  Turns out the surgeon guessed correctly and they had that troublemaker out of there in about an hour.  I got to come home Monday but I still can't do anything.  FYI... appendicitis didn't hurt as much as I expected, it's the post-surgery recovery that isn't fun.

Bodyboard

We finished up a bodyboard with twin fins for our daughter earlier this week.  It's been too cold here for her to get it wet... but not too cold for her to pose with it.
This board was made completely from wood remnants from other boards we've made.  The lighter colored cedar we salvaged from an old deck.  After removing the the weathered top layer of wood from the boards the rest looked great.  The dark colored cedar was a surprise find in a friends burn pile.
