Waldport, OR

We headed over to Waldport today and took our time enjoying the beautiful scenery.

We weren't the only ones enjoying the day.. the coast line was full of life.  One stretch of beach was decorated with harbor seals.  Most of them were just relaxing in the sun but the smaller ones were more active, crawling in and out of the shallow water like inchworms and splashing around.  I think the three little ones in the zoomed in photo below (front and center) realized they were on camera and were saying "look what I can do!"

This Harlequin duck was out cruising the waters just beyond the tide pools with his girlfriend.

There's always plenty of sea anemones to see in the tide pools and at least a few sea stars.

Sailing

Tonight was a race night so we spent most of our evening down at Fern Ridge.  I stayed at our boat because I had some work to do... and I wanted to take photos of the race.

I spent most of my time at the dock cleaning up and organizing our boat.  Now that I've got that task out of the way I plan to take down one of our stand up paddle boards and go paddling every week.  Well... once the weather warms up a little more I will.  There's only three boats on our entire dock right now, but once the sun starts shining and the temperature starts rising this place fills up quick!

Oh yeah, and here's a few pictures of the boats racing for those of you who are interested.

Finally... a break in the rain

There was a break in the rain today so we took a walk down to the river.  I was desperate to get out of the house and soak up what little sun was peeking through the clouds.  The river was high and our usual shore area that we go to was completely underwater.

Here's some pictures of part of our quiver that I took today while the rain was away.

Productive day

Today turned out to be another very rainy day... so it ended up being a very productive day on the boards.  One of us worked on building and one of us worked on glassing.

Picture of the day

Stand up paddle boards and surfboards can take up a lot of space... and when you have as many as we do they need their own room in the house.

Tall ships in Newport

This morning we headed over to the coast early because the tall ships were in town.  We got to go on board and and check them out.  One of the boats was actually in Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl.  After touring the ships we headed down to the beach and just enjoyed the beautiful day.

The ocean was picture perfect today!

Friday at the lake

We headed down to the lake today to spend a little time getting our boat back into sailing shape.  We were going to take our stand up paddle boards down and do a little paddling but we knew we had enough boat work to keep us busy.

Sailing season begins

Today was the first race of sailing season and the weather wasn't very kind.  It rained and hailed until the race was over... then the sun decided to peek out.
