Stand Up Paddle Boarding - Corvallis to Albany

Completed a 12 mile paddle from Corvallis to Albany along the Willamette River today.  It's a great time of year to do this paddle because the current and depth of the river aren't bad.  It took just under three hours to make it from the water front area by the bridge in Corvallis to Bryant Park in Albany.

Here's a map of where the river led us along our paddle from Corvallis to Albany.

We didn't start our paddle until the afternoon so we made it to our destination in the evening, just as the sun was getting lower and it was starting to cool off.

Two Days of Stand Up Paddle Boarding

We spent the weekend with friends and family at Fern Ridge sailing and paddling.  We anchored out our boat, rafted up with friends, and relaxed and barbecued while listening to the live band playing nearby.  Of course we brought along an SUP board for everyone to play with.

We had some occasional visitors while out paddling the lake...

These guys would swim up to the surface and come in for a closer look at us before finally swimming away.

We also had visitors flying around above hoping for food.

Bodyboarding

We took our daughter to do some bodyboarding today... there weren't any waves in sight but she didn't seem to care.

Stand Up Paddle Boarding - Fern Ridge Reservoir

We took a couple boards down to Fern Ridge Reservoir.  We had a great time stand up paddle boarding even though the lake was more crowded than usual.

Stand Up Paddle Boarding - Willamette River

Today was really hot so we decided to take one of our new board designs out to the Willamette River for a test ride... and it was a good excuse to cool off.  The new board design turned out great, it was very stable even in the strong Willamette current, so we will be making  more soon.
